Chrissy Short

My name is Chrissy Short and I am very excited and honored to be your inside sales equine specialist for Midwest Veterinary Supply. I am originally from Franklin Tennessee, about 20 minutes south of Nashville. I have been a licensed technician for the last 12 years in equine and small animal practices. I also have my B.S in Animal Science with a concentration in horse science. I am also certified in canine rehab and physical therapy from UT Knoxville in Tennessee. Currently I live in Des Moines Iowa with my husband Brad Weigandt and our rescue Border Collie/ Golden Retriever mix Mia.

My love for all animals started at a very early age. My passion for animals comes from my mom who is a huge animal lover and rescues dogs and cats and a lifelong horse lover. I got my first pony, a Shetland pony named Misty, when I was 2. The very first time my mom and dad put me on her back she immediately threw me. They just knew I'd never want to ride again, so imagine their surprise when I started laughing and wanted to get back on. That was the start of my love of horses. I grew up riding trails, in parades, and at the family farm. During college I was part of the horse science club and after I graduated I worked for an equine veterinarian and decided to go back and get my technicians license. In that time, I have helped with colic surgeries, breeding, foaling, dental care and just about every aspect involved in equine medicine.

I have owned several horses over the years and they have all been special teachers, a friend, and at tough times in life my rock to lean on. Currently I have 1 horse, a chestnut Tennessee walking horse named Barron. He was born on my family's farm and it was love at first sight for both of us. In addition I have a rescue barn cat named Reno, a rescue jack Russell named Buster who I bottle raised, and a rescue rat terrier named Trixie who I found and hid in my college apartment.

I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and working closely to build a relationship and meet your clinics equine needs. It is my goal to provide you with the very best service and answer any questions you may have to provide you with the quality representation that Midwest Veterinary Supply offers.

Sincerely,

Chrissy Short B.S, LVMT, CCRP
