Merck Animal Health, the makers of Nobivac® vaccines, and the International Boarding and Pet Services Association (IBPSA) launched a free Champions for Care certification program in Infectious Disease Management at the 2017 AAHA Conference. ""The Champions for Care certification program provides essential support to the veterinary and pet professional community to help keep pets healthy," said Michael Cavanaugh, DVM, DABVP (Emeritus), chief executive officer of AAHA. "The program is complementary on VetFolio and provides professionals an excellent opportunity to better understand infectious diseases and preventive care." The Champions for Care certification is free and open to all veterinary and pet professionals.
Dogs that are social or visit pet businesses, such as doggie day cares and boarding facilities are at risk for infectious diseases. Fortunately, better understanding of infectious diseases and preventative care, including strategic vaccination and cleaning protocols, can help keep pets healthy. The Champions for Care certification program was created to help both veterinary and pet businesses create facilities dedicated to being disease free. The program is co-sponsored by the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) and the International Boarding and Pet Services Association (IBPSA).
The Champions for Care certification in Infectious Disease Management is a free program sponsored by Merck Animal Health and powered by Vetfolio. The program consists of two modules: Understanding Infectious Diseases, taught by Dr. Jason Stull and Dr. Michelle Evason, and Effective Infectious Disease Control, taught by Dr. Melissa Bourgeois. All three speakers are renowned veterinary experts in infectious disease.
The Champions for Care certification is open to all veterinary and pet professionals. To become certified, both modules must be completed and the certification examination must be passed. The certification provides 2 RACE approved continuing education credits for veterinary professionals.
Champions for Care Resources:
Champions for Care Podcasts are a collection of educational podcasts on infectious diseases. Champions for Care podcasts are hosted by Dr. Courtney Campbell.
Champions for Care Infectious Disease Handbook is also available through the program. This handbook is a great resource for all pet professionals and was written by experts in infectious disease.
